Counseling for Children & Teens
Is your child is constantly angry, having behavioral issues,
or getting into fights with peers or with you?
Super sensitive to environmental stimuli?
Is your teen anxious, depressed, or acting out? Extra shy and having trouble making or keeping friends?
Are you worried about their behavior at school, risk taking with peers, or disrespect and withdrawal at home?
Your child or teen may be unable to clearly tell you what is going on in their mind and feelings. They may not really know. But you can tell something is wrong when they:
seem moody or sad all the time but can't explain why
frequently feel sick without any apparent medical illness
engage in self-injuring /self-punishing behaviors
talk about scary dreams or draw violent images
eat or sleep too much, or too little
flinch when touched or startle at common sounds
must perform repetitive habits to feel safe
can't talk to you without anger or annoyance
get easily distracted, seldom finish chores or homework
withdraw from the family, and refuse to socialize with peers
While kids and teens go through stages of development, act out their feelings in order to full experience or understand them, and experiment with things we wish they wouldn't, parental instincts that their children need professional help are often correct.
If your instincts are telling you
your child needs help,
I am here for you.
I specialize in
counseling children and teens.
When kids and teens are feeling distress, they aren't always clear and direct about what's wrong. Frustrated and feeling out of answers, parents turn to punishment and other disciplinary practices that don't always work -- and sometimes make things worse.
You feel that you are tired and out of control when your child is angry and acting out. If you are going through a divorce, it’s only adding to the stress that you have. Co-parenting with another parent can cause difficulties.
During or after divorce, your child can struggle, and you might be feeling emotional pain with your child.
It’s time to stop feeling worried and tired! It’s time to start feeling joy and piece with your child and improve quality of your life. You want your child to be happier and to stop being angry or having behavioral issues.

A Special Note about Privacy and
Confidentiality for Minor Clients
Part of the therapeutic process for children and teens is to develop clear and open communication with parents. I encourage my minor clients to share the significant discussions and insights of their counseling sessions with their parents.
But I am not free to tell parents everything their child or teen tells me, unless it is information that threatens their immediate safety. To discuss a child's thoughts and feelings with the parents is a betrayal of the trust your child and I are building in the therapy relationship. This is not about keeping secrets from you. It is about teaching the child to use good decision making.
